The General Education Center of NCUT was upgraded to the College of General Education in August, 2010. The Fundamental General Education Center and Liberal Arts General Education Center are affiliated with the General Education College. The Center has invited teachers of every department and college that have devoted themselves to general education courses for many years, and teachers who are interested in general education, to be hired and offer courses. We expect all our staff from every department or college to implement our goals of literacy and adhering to current general education while integrating their own ideas and philosophy of general education to design and plan courses. At present (Aug. in 2024), our Liberal Arts General Education Center has two full-time-teachers and thirteen jointly-appointed-teachers (the seven teachers are from other colleges; college of Humanities, college of Management, and college of Engineering).
Due to the concern of long-term development and maintaining a consistent teaching quality, the Liberal Arts General Education Center hires teachers with interdisciplinary expertise to design Liberal Arts General Education courses as well as maintain stable teaching sources for Liberal Arts General Education courses. In August 2019, a project assistant professor specializing in cross-sociology and performing arts was hired following approval of the university. Meanwhile, considering the internationalization of Liberal Arts courses and the international academic stage, in August 2020 a Japanese project assistant professor specializing in physics was hired to boost our competitiveness.
To offer inclusive and diversified courses, in addition to co-hired and other teachers hired by the Center, teachers and part-time teachers of every department and college are also invited to offer lectures. Teachers can combine their expertise in subjects as well as the literacy of generation education to integrate and enrich course content.

Hsu, Wei-Ying |
Wei-Ying Hsu holds PhD in sociology at Tunghai University, Taiwan, and M.A. degree in Dance Study and BA(Hons)in Dance Theater of The City University, London, Laban Center for Movement and Dance. Her research applies sociological perspectives on performing arts, with particular attention to the areas of politics, policy, body culture, and performance genre. Her teaching emphasizes on “learning by doing” and reflective thinking. Her courses include 'Fun Art and Everyday Life', 'Art and Society', 'Playing, Moving, and Demystifying Body Culture”', and 'Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction'. |
